Shift: Days - 8 hour shifts
Hours: 730-400pm

* BLS within 3 months of hire
* Certification is preferred
* Experience is preferred

Position Summary

Provides direct patient care to the Cath Lab patient under the direction of the cath lab supervisor. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of duties and tasks in the Cath Lab, which promotes effective departmental functions while performing all phases of cath lab procedures.

Job Qualifications

Education or Formal Training

1. High school graduate preferred

2. Completion of a formalized ARRT, RCIS or allied health program or one year practical experience in the health field

3. RCIS credentialed within 18 months of hire

Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)

1. BLS certification required within conditional period

2. ACLS certification required within one year of hire

3. IABP experience within 6 months of hire

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

1. Demonstrates knowledge of all phases of cardiac cath lab procedures to include hemodynamic Monitoring and electrocardiographic recognition.

2. Demonstrates skills, knowledge, and ability to perform as first scrub assistant for all adult diagnostic and interventional cases including PTCA, STENTS, IVUS, ANGIOJET, CUTTING BALLOON, BRACHYTHERAPY, IABP, ROTOBLATER, and PERMANENT PACEMAKER INSERTION or DEFIBRILLATOR INSERTION

3. Fluoroscopic equipment manipulation

4. If EP, demonstrates skills, knowledge, and ability to perform as first scrub assistant for all diagnostic and therapeutic EP studies. Understands and is able to utilize all equipment specific to EP studies

5. Demonstrates knowledge of various radiographic injection techniques

6. Hemodynamic recording/procedural record equipment manipulation

7. Basic knowledge of ACT and oximeter devices

8. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology and medical terminology

9. Able to work in a multifunctional team environment and demonstrate ability to set priorities

10. Displays knowledge and skills for sheath removal and achievement of hemostasis (manual and device)

11. Physical and mental stamina to perform job duties

Experience

One-year experience in acute care hospital required

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

Standard medical/hospital equipment including: wheelchairs, stretchers, positioning aids, 12?Lead EKG, patient monitors, physiological monitors, IV infusion pumps, all x-ray archival equipment, and other office equipment including computers and the ability to access the meditech system, intercom, telephone, and copy machine

Working Environment/Physical Activities

1. Physical working environment may include but not be limited to any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, explosive, radiation, stress, back strain, body fluids, etc.

2. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.

3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.

4. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

5. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.

6. Assists staff with patient transport.

7. Assists patients on and off cath lab procedure table.

8. Transports specimens to correct department as needed.
